I am a traveler at heart. Each piece I create takes me on a journey into the unknown. My guideposts are nature, color, texture and balance. I begin each piece without a plan, working intuitively until it feels finished.
Some of my works are abstract; others touch upon reality. Encaustic, printmaking and collage are my favorite art forms. Preferred mediums include acrylics, inks, cold wax and Japanese rice paper.
I live in New England where the ephemeral beauty of the four seasons inspires me daily. A year spent cooking in Paris, France taught me the pleasure of abundance, which shows up in my art through layering and embellishment. A year studying tea ceremony cuisine (kaiseki) in Kyoto, Japan made me appreciate empty space and clean lines. I incorporate all of these elements into my art, although not always simultaneously.
